These fel\u00adlows were from Aus\u00adtralia.  Pic\u00adtured above is Hank as he was get\u00adting set to leave this morning.<\/p>\n<p>The oth\u00ader bloke was already gone, off to Star\u00adbucks then on to the skate\u00adboard park down by the wharf.  He\u2019s car\u00adried a skate\u00adboard with him for their entire adven\u00adture.  They flew into Van\u00adcou\u00adver and bought their bikes there. Their route was through east\u00adern Wash\u00ading\u00adton to the Colum\u00adbia, along the Colum\u00adbia, through the Gorge into Port\u00adland, on to see the Colum\u00adbia ter\u00admi\u00adnate into the Pacif\u00adic, then down the coast all the way to San\u00adta Bar\u00adbara.  When they arrive in Los Ange\u00adles they\u2019ll leave their bikes and fly to New York for eight days, return\u00ading to Los Ange\u00adles to ride to the Mex\u00adi\u00adcan bor\u00adder, then fly home to Syd\u00adney. <strong><em>What an adventure.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Things to note on Han\u00adks set\u00adup above (click\u00ading on the image presents a larg\u00ader ver\u00adsion of&nbsp;same):<br>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\u2666 The stacked up stuff on the rear rack. Typ\u00adi\u00adcal long haul; load it <strong>up<\/strong>, bungee it all&nbsp;down.<br>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\u2666 The cre\u00adative place\u00adment of the \u201chan\u00addle\u00adbar bag\u201d, very&nbsp;cool.<br>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\u2666 The disk brakes and an advan\u00adtage I had nev\u00ader considered.<br>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Hank had bro\u00adken 19 spokes by the time he rode into an Arca\u00adta bike store with&nbsp;four<br>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;of them unre\u00adpaired. Yet he could still ride with the wheel <strong><em><span class=\"caps\">WAY<\/span><\/em><\/strong> out of true because<br>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;the bike has disk brakes. With brakes stop\u00adping on the rim and his size he probably<br>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;would not have been able to ride with two spokes bro\u00adken, amaz\u00ading to me who&nbsp;has<br>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;bro\u00adken many a spoke while tour\u00ading. <em>Disc wheels may be in my future!<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jill had two more tour\u00ading cyclists drop by for a \u201cWarm Show\u00ader\u201d the last two nights (click here for info on WarmShow\u00aders).
