Leav\u00ading Reno this morn\u00ading looked like rain so I got some\u00adwhat rain-ready and head\u00aded out. Forty five miles north of Reno I thought I had got\u00adten clear of the threat. <strong><em><span class=\"caps\">HA<\/span>! Not&nbsp;Even!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Two hours lat\u00ader I road along in mild rain for 50 miles or so. My HiViz out\u00adfit worked as adver\u00adtised, dry as a bone while con\u00adtin\u00adu\u00ading it\u2019s main func\u00adtion of glow\u00ading in the dark. But the tem\u00adper\u00ada\u00adture was in the high to mid 40\u2019s and, while think\u00ading of stop\u00adping and putting on a sweater I fought that impulse, remained in char\u00adac\u00adter, and did&nbsp;not.<\/p>\n<p>Arriv\u00ading in Kla\u00admath Falls around 3:00 and stop\u00adping for a late lunch I final\u00adly under\u00adstood my con\u00addi\u00adtion when I start\u00aded shiv\u00ader\u00ading in the restau\u00adrant and could not stop. It was dur\u00ading this shiv\u00ader\u00adfest that a dis\u00adtant shot of san\u00adi\u00adty sug\u00adgest\u00aded to me that I sh\/could get a motel room <span class=\"caps\">ASAP<\/span> to get inside and out of the then cur\u00adrent 57 degree day.  But return\u00ading to the Suzu\u00adki the Coutts geneal\u00ado\u00adgy sec\u00adtion of my brain sud\u00adden\u00adly took con\u00adtrol and, see\u00ading there was plen\u00adty of time to ride on to Bend, had one of my fin\u00adgers plug Bend into the <span class=\"caps\">GPS<\/span>. Off we went for many blocks until Dar\u00adwin reassert\u00aded the mod\u00adern lay\u00ader and had the <span class=\"caps\">GPS<\/span> repoint\u00aded to the Kla\u00admath Falls EconoLodge.<\/p>\n<p>Once in the room I lay under the cov\u00aders for an hour and a half while my trusty (???) brain kept sug\u00adgest\u00ading I get up and go for a walk around the town. My body negat\u00aded all those cor\u00adti\u00adcal mis\u00adfires by con\u00adtin\u00adu\u00ading to lux\u00adu\u00adri\u00adate under the cov\u00aders.
