I was almost set to ride off this morn\u00ading, I just need\u00aded to push the Suzu\u00adki out of the garage and down onto the dri\u00adve\u00adway (a total of 15 feet) so I could close the garage door. So I thought I\u2019d  just leave the bike in neu\u00adtral while I put down the stand, not some\u00adthing I had yet done on the slop\u00ading dri\u00adve\u00adway. How did that idea play out you ask? Pret\u00adty much as depict\u00aded in the left image above.<\/p>\n

But ANON<\/span>!<\/strong><\/em> I was able to com\u00adpose the right image by myself with\u00adin 5 min\u00adutes  (cam\u00adera shots and out\u00adtakes includ\u00aded therein).<\/p>\n

This morn\u00ading\u2019s pro\u00adduc\u00adtive new tech\u00adnique was to lift the bike using the han\u00addle\u00adbars. This allowed some sort of ful\u00adcrum action that made right\u00ading the bike a man\u00adage\u00adable lift by me alone. All pri\u00ador times I\u2019ve attempt\u00aded the lift cen\u00adtered between the wheels as my mind some\u00adhow cal\u00adcu\u00adlat\u00aded that as the most bal\u00adanced way to right it. Bal\u00adanced or not it makes the lift greater than one I can per\u00adform alone. So much for mind over matter.<\/p>\n

Today\u2019s insight was nur\u00adtured by Ian\u2019s help\u00ading me to right the bike after I fell in the mid\u00addle of the San\u00adta Ynez Riv\u00ader on our Decem\u00adber 10, 2010 out\u00ading. I was doing my part using my stan\u00addard cen\u00adtered lift while Ian just grabbed onto the rear most part of the bike and seem\u00ading\u00adly pulled the bike up by him\u00adself. I was very impressed at the time. So this morn\u00ading after again try\u00ading my futile cen\u00adter tech\u00adnique I recalled Ian\u2019s effort and tried to right the bike from the back cor\u00adner.  This was more than I could man\u00adage but when I shift\u00aded to the front of the bike using the han\u00addle\u00adbars I was able, with rel\u00ada\u00adtive ease, to pull the bike up.<\/p>\n

After my delayed start I had a won\u00adder\u00adful ride down to and through Cal State Chan\u00adnel Islands, some pok\u00ading around in the San\u00adta Mon\u00adi\u00adca Moun\u00adtains, through Thou\u00adsand Oaks then north to High\u00adway 126 and along 150 and 101 home. An inter\u00adest\u00ading day see\u00ading ter\u00adri\u00adto\u00adry I have not seen since bicy\u00adcling through it in the 70\u2019s along with some alto\u00adgeth\u00ader new.<\/p>\n

I am very relieved to know I can right the bike alone as this has been an ongo\u00ading anx\u00adi\u00adety when I\u2019ve been off explor\u00ading by myself.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
